poweriser tricks

topic posted Thu, August 2, 2007 - 11:28 AM by  offlineatom is ever...
If you could learn 3 tricks what would they be and why would you want to learn them. Would you be willing to learn these tricks if there was a video or a trainer that would teach you?

Please let me know as I am interested in your response.

I'd be up for pretty much anything if I had a place where I could learn without dying. So far all my bocking has been on cement, which isn't so forgiving.

    1. Flipping forward and backwards. It seems every damn little kid wants you to do them.
1a. A variant of this is to do a flip through a hoop of fire
1b. Jump rope but it's on fire.
    2. Being able to fire hula hoop, 3 ball fire juggle and power stilt at the same time. It is just a goal I set for myself.
    3. I'm not sure what they are called, but in acrobatics, you have one person jump up and then do a hand stand on the other person's arms.

    Flips, flips, and flips.

I assume the best way to practice is to practice flipping without powerisers at the beach, and once you're able to land them consistently to try to switch up to doing them with powerisers.

Has anyone tried using Powerisers on beach sand? I'm bringing mine to BM this year and I figure the playa is a good midrange of hard vs. forgiving surface.

I threw a forward flip into a gymnastic pit before I took it to the beach. I was already used to jumping off a minitramp, which is a lot like the poweriser liftoff. There's a place on Muscle Beach in Santa Monica where you can take off from a rubber tumbling mat and launch into sand. I didn't even bother trying to take off from sand since it would surely kill the bounce.

Haven't had the guts to do a backflip yet. I'd like to try it in a spotting belt first.

Look for a gymnastics gym or diving school that has a spotting rig. It allows you to practice flips without the risk of mortal injury. Most of the time they have one for a trampoline and the floor. Get used to it on the trampoline and then move it to the floor. Soon you will be doing flips like a pro.

I put up our own spotting blet for my risers to try flips and still is pretty scarry. the momentum is slow to the top with the added weight then you seem to stop at the top and then the momentum picks up quicker on the way down. You think you might die or land on your head the first few times but really you have farthur to go since you are higher to start and the time to flip ends up the same with the minus and added momentum. Yes use spotting blet first!
