I'd love to hear suggestions! So far I've usually tried to do something that incorporated the uncovered stilts since they're so interesting-looking. I've been able to walk around without tripping in pants that went down to the bottom of my shoes, though (even with those, I split them on the outside seam so the stilts showed through). I haven't tried anything longer.

They will have to be wide to accommodate the entire spring and foot, as the spring widens while jumping. Also you need to tie them at the bottom to keep them from getting tangled up in the moving parts.

what i did was custom designed them. I had them tie up above my knee and get really wide as they got down to the spring. however, to accommodate for the way the spring gets wider as you put weight on it, I made a large split down the back and put the spring through that. to keep from letting the entire stilt show through, i sewed velcro on to the covers to keep the area between where the top and bottom of the spring attach.

as you can see, the black spring sticks out, but the it still covers the whole stilt. with this system, it doesnt matter how wide your stilts become when you jump because the spring itself isnt restricted (the other stilter in the picture is on peg stilts so she doesn't need them)
